TSA’s Building Blocks: Post-Workshop Follow-Up for FP2030 in Sindh, Punjab, KP, Balochistan, ICT, AJK, and GB
Following the FP2030 Accelerating Access to Postpartum and Post-Abortion Family Planning (PPFP & PAFP) Workshop, The Scaling-Up Accelerators(TSA) conducted an extensive follow-up across seven regions of Pakistan, including Sindh, Punjab, KP, Balochistan, ICT, AJK, and GB. The initiative focused on strengthening governance, coordination, and service delivery systems to enhance the accessibility and quality of PPFP and PAFP services.

Key Follow-Up Highlights
- Governance and Leadership:
- Policy Development: Existing policies and guidelines were reviewed and identified for circulation to enhance implementation across all regions.
- Coordination Forums: Strengthened platforms to discuss FP2030 indicators and action plans for PPFP and PAFP.
- Leadership Development: Appointed focal points and leaders at the tertiary level to oversee regional implementation efforts.
- Planning and Budgeting:
- District-Level Planning: Addressed gaps in district-level planning, emphasizing the need for extensive strategy formulation.
- Cost Analysis: Advocated for budgeting and cost analysis for PPFP services to ensure sustainable resource allocation.
- Human Resource Development:
- Training: Collaborated with development partners to train healthcare providers (HCPs) on PPFP and PAFP services.
- Personnel Notifications: Prepared notifications for PPFP counselors to standardize service provision across regions.
- Service Delivery and Quality Assurance:
- Supportive Supervision: Worked with development partners to implement quality improvement models and ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Quality Assurance Framework: Advocated for endorsement and integration of a QA framework for consistent service monitoring.
- Demand Generation and Community Engagement:
- Focused on improving counseling and referrals by Lady Health Workers (LHWs),Community Midwives (CMWs), and male mobilizers to increase PPFP and PAFP uptake.
- Commodities and Supply Chain Management:
- Strengthened procurement and distribution systems, training staff on CLR-6 protocols to ensure uninterrupted supplies.
- Information Systems and Data Integration:
- Integrated PPFP and PAFP indicators into DHIS-2 and incorporated counseling indicators into the LHW MIS to streamline data reporting and analysis.



Impact Across Regions
- Sindh & Punjab: Initiated the inclusion of FP2030 indicators in health information systems and improved supervision models.
- KP & Balochistan: Strengthened leadership and developed comprehensive planning frameworks.
- ICT, AJK, GB: Focused on policy dissemination and capacity building for regional service providers.
